Wednesday 1st July 2026 - Wuthering Heights, Overstrand Video and Full Bins

In my blog for 11^th March, I mentioned the novel Wuthering Heights and reading it first at school followed by a number of times, since then.  Each time I read it, I had a different view of the story; finally ending up with last read, not liking the characters and giving my book away.  Peter suggested, I try reading it again.  With my book long gone, I downloaded it for fourteen pence on Kindle.  Did I enjoy the story and like the characters?  Yes, I did.  I’m glad I read Emily Brontes famed book again but at the end, I felt sure an important scene was missing.  I’ll have to skim through to the relevant part and check or maybe this is why my download was only fourteen pence!

Peter spotted a recently uploaded video on YouTube covering Overstrand, in which Jack Miller takes a stroll through the village and on the beach, providing various pieces of information.  Apart from one small forgivable error, the film gives an honest, and glowing, representation of the village, with the Sea Marge getting a definite thumbs up as well as The White Horse.  Jack has published a number of films on his YouTube channel covering his walking tours and visits to attractions in the UK and all things in between.

Jack Miller, obviously didn’t visit and film the village in what is becoming a regular occurrence during warm weather – full bins that don’t get emptied for days and end up overflowing.  As an example, I’ve included five photos taken last Saturday.  The bins were eventually emptied and surrounding rubbish cleared some time on Sunday.  Given, as we are so often told by the Council, this part of Norfolk is a tourist area and the revenue generated by visitors is necessary for the local economy, sites like these should not be allowed to happen – they are an eyesore.  Tourism or no, as residents we don’t want or expect to see this kind of sloppy service from NNDC.
