During the course of this week, the new fencing on the car park has been completed.  This was started last Friday and the length now sections of the area close to the cliff, which has been undercut.  The original fence has been left in place and if nothing else it will serve as a measure as to when this area of the car park falls down towards the beach.

Today was the last car boot sale of the season.  Not a bad turnout of sellers.  For a change, I didn’t buy any plants, although I can’t say I wasn’t tempted!  Peter pointed out two wine coolers on a stall at just £1 each.  We don’t drink wines that need chilling but maybe there could be another use for them.  We pondered for a while and then I picked them up, pulled a £2 coin out of my pocket, and purchased the pair.  So, what can they be used for?  Peter has two good suggestions pot plant holders or vases for fresh or dried flowers and foliage.  Since then, I’ve had another idea which if it works, I will show you later this year.

Although the car boots have finished the café in the pavilion will, hopefully, after a few weeks break open again, providing villagers with a meeting place to catch up on news and of course, enjoy very reasonably priced tea, coffee and cake.  Next Friday (26th) there will be a MacMillan coffee morning in the pavilion.  I have put the details on the Village Calendar page.

On Monday we received, through the post, a questionnaire from Coastwise.  The questionnaire asked a variety of questions covering, what we valued in the village, where we considered we are in relation to coastal erosion, how concerned we may be, how prepared do we think the community are in relation to risks and whether we would be like to attend the forthcoming workshops.  What it didn’t expand on is, who received a questionnaire.  Curious to know who has, I sent an email to Coastwise, asking, ‘Was this sent out to permanent residents only, or did the circulation include second/holiday home owners and/or those who rent out their properties either on a long-term rental or as a holiday let?’ I have yet to receive a response. Instead of a photo, today I have included a scan of one of the pages in the flyer, enclosed with the questionnaire, covering the forthcoming workshops.
