Thursday 12th December 2024 - Barely Turned Over, No Lengthy Waits and Boxing Day Swim

The battery in our car has been, what you could term, ‘on its way out’ for a while now.  We don’t use the car that often and to make sure the battery is charged, Peter uses a solar charger, which has kept it topped up.  This has worked well but yesterday morning when I had a hairdresser’s appointment in Cromer, the engine barely turned over.  Fortunately, I was able to get the bus, but prior to this I phoned the hairdressers to let them know and I ended up arriving just a few minutes late for my appointment.  While I was out, Peter contacted the village garage, Curtis’s, who were able to get a new battery and fit it today – now that’s what I call service.

Our ExWI group were meeting for lunch at the Sea Marge, so I had little time to hang around and browse the shops in Cromer, after my hairdressers appointment.  No buses at a suitable time, I took a taxi home to ensure I wasn’t late.  There were ten of us for lunch which was served in Speyers, the small private dining room.  Considering, this was mid-week, lunch time and two weeks away from Christmas the hotel was very busy with diners; in the bar, Churchill room and main Frazer’s dining room too.  Despite this, the service was good with the food presented well and no lengthy waits.

Today’s photo is of the sign for the Boxing Day Swim, which this year will start at 11 a.m.
