I took advantage of a Black Friday deal on some deodorants and body wash. I have been using this particular company for a few years and apart from the range they offer, I also like the fact the products are refillable and everything is plastic free and compostable. With a good discount, this was a deal not to be missed. The package was scheduled for delivery on Thursday between 14.30 and 16.30. We were in but instead of ringing our door bell, the delivery driver dropped the cardboard box over our gate onto wet grass. Added to this, it was raining so it was a good job I spotted the box before it became totally soaked and the contents damaged. I have informed the company, suggesting they try an alternative delivery company. This is not the first time we’ve had problems with this particular courier. For example, they failed to collect a booked return and two lollipop trees sat at their hub for nigh on a week. There are plenty of other couriers who are reliable and offer a home delivery service but I’m guessing this particular one is probably cheaper.
After a couple of unacceptable types of fish, (one watery and the other smelled and was dry) received from online suppliers, I searched the internet for another supplier. I found one, in Cornwall with their own fleet of boats, offering fresh fish. I phoned through our order on Monday which travelled across the country during Thursday night and delivered to us Friday morning. We ate the hake in the evening which was good, in fact too much fish for the two of us and the megrim (a fish we’ve not had for many years) and lemon sole fillets, I put in the freezer to be eaten over the next couple of weeks. One thing we have never had problems with, are the deliveries of fish. The suppliers have always used a reliable courier. If they’d used the one, I referred to above, it’s possible the fish would have been rank by the time it reached us! I should add, I did check which courier the Cornwall supplier uses, before confirming our order.
Glendon House are once again opening their doors to any elderly residents who are in need of company and a home cooked lunch on Christmas Day. Anyone who is interested should to phone the home on 01263 578173 before December 15th to make a reservation. This is a most generous offer, in the true spirit of Christmas. More information is below, on the photograph of their poster.
