Wednesday 13th August 2025 - A Great Summer and Events Coming Up

What a great summer we are having here in Overstrand.  After the two previous summers left something to be desired, weather wise, we have most certainly deserved this year’s sun and warmth.  Yes, we’ve had damp periods (great for the garden) and a few chilly days but no complaints about these; they made me more appreciative of the sun, when it returned.  With the tides in our favour this week, we’ve been able to take a walk along the prom (dipping down on the beach and up again, where the prom is closed due to the slump).  This morning, we strolled along the beach towards Cromer when, apart from the last part of our return, we had the entire beach to ourselves – perfect.

There are a few events coming up during the latter half of this month.  On the 23^rd, the village’s Strand Club are holding a fundraising coffee morning for Hillside Sanctuary in Northrepps village hall. Then, again on the 23^rd, in the afternoon, Glendon House are having their annual summer fete.  Rounding off the 23^rd, in the evening, The Overstrand Club are hosting Cash Bingo.  Following this there will be a Beer Fest on the Sports Field from Friday 29^th through to Sunday 31^st.  I will put more information about all four of these events on the Village Calendar page.

I took today’s photo this morning during our beach walk.  Whereas previous attempts have failed and been out of focus, I am pleased I managed to get a focused shot of flowers on a clump of sea rocket.
