Anyone who has enjoyed meeting up on Thursday mornings in the Pavilion, after the car boots have finished, will be pleased to hear the coffee mornings will be resuming on 8th October.  It’s a great place to meet up, while enjoying a tea or coffee along with cake and/or a sausage roll.  All are welcome.

Well-done to whoever instigated the changes in Trimingham to the speed limits, on the road passing through the centre of the village as well as the approaches.  In addition, there is a marked pathway (not a pavement), for pedestrians in the area constricted by buildings.  The thirty miles per hour section has been extended and the speed limit on the narrowest part of the road, in the village, has been reduced to twenty miles per hour.  I’ve had a brief look at their Parish Council’s website and although the dates for traffic management works are covered in the 2026 minutes, there is no mention as to whether the Council put forward the changes to Highways Department.  Overstrand would certainly benefit from traffic management, with a reduction in the speed limit along some of the roads and maybe some additional markings at the Cromer end of the village.

A little early to say whether the conkers are definitely working but so far, there has been a reduction in webs and the spider who has regularly popped out, once the sun has set, seems to have packed its bags and moved on.

Work has started on the sea wall.  As, understandably, access down to the promenade has been blocked off, we’ve observed the progress from the cliff top. The plan, provided by NNDC, shows the repairs to be completed, at the west end, on the sea side of the ramps that lead down to the beaches.  However, the sheet piling is being positioned a fair bit further on, to the east.  The contractors are progressing at an impressive pace and have taken care not to impede Andy’s business.  He’s still been able to launch his boat and haul crab pots.  The promenade should be open over the weekend, when we will get a better view of the work completed, so far.  I have included two photos, taken yesterday from the cliff top, showing the piling machinery in action and additional piles being transported along the promenade.
