Monday 15th December 2025 - A Great Weekend and Wasn't Planned

We had a very enjoyable weekend with our family.  We ate at home on Friday evening; my homemade coq au vin with vegetables and to follow something lighter, fresh fruit salad and cream.  The weather was kind, enabling a walk on the beach on Saturday morning with lunch at home.  This was followed by a visit to the church to see the Christmas Tree Festival, and then in the evening, dinner at The White Horse.  Back to the church on Sunday morning so that our son could collect his prize, won from the raffle on Saturday, before driving to Roman Camp for an early lunch, after which our family headed back home to Bucks.  The food at both The White Horse and Roman Camp was very good, and I guess from the clean plates, along with positive comments, my homecooked and prepared dishes were enjoyed too.

One thing, at the weekend, which wasn’t planned; I broke a tooth – I did this on Saturday lunch’s bacon sandwich!  This is the third tooth I’ve broken this year.  I’m impressed with our new dental practice who have arranged an emergency appointment with our dentist tomorrow morning.

I can recommend a visit to the Christmas Tree Festival.  All the trees are different, with various themes.  The theme for my tree is, Tree of Treats for Our Wildlife, which features as today’s photo.  I will be at the church on Friday afternoon, when I will take photos of some of the other trees on display.  When we visited on Saturday, as well as the raffle, there was a tombola and a selection of craft stalls, all in a very relaxed atmosphere.  In addition, there were refreshments with homemade bakes, which will also be available each afternoon, throughout the festival.
