We’ve been using the local bus service again. On Wednesday we took the last of our vinyl records, including Elton John, The Kinks, Jean Paul Jarre, T Rex, Rolling Stones etc. to the Another Planet shop in West Street, in Cromer. Our first visit was a few weeks ago, taking my collection of Beatles records, including two rarities sent to members of the Fan Club at Christmas. Marc, the shop owner, was impressed with the condition of my records (I was always very careful with my discs and never lent them to anyone). After a little bit of haggling we settled on a sum, Marc was happy to buy them at and I was pleased to sell them for. A bit more haggling on Wednesday and we are now vinyl free. Why did we sell our records? For starters, we haven’t had a turntable for many years and we feel that once our generation have passed on, who will be interested in The Beatles etc. – probably not many – so best to sell them now. This has created a bit more room in the roof space, where they were stored, and it’s saved our sons the bother of getting rid to them when we are gone! While we were in Another Planet, I perused the CD’s for sale and bought two I have been looking for, without success, at the car boot sales. Marc not only sells vinyl and cd’s but also various pieces of memorabilia. Thursday, we were back on the bus, this time to North Walsham to collect my shoes from the repair shop in Church Street. A drier day, compared to last Thursday, we took some time looking around the market and some of the shops, making a few purchases. Back at the Travel Hub, there were no bus delays this week!
Despite the recent works to stabilise the cliffs, above the sea wall/promenade, there has been another slip (see photo below). NNDC posted on Facebook, stating works have finished but the promenade would remain closed while the cliffs stability is assessed. The latest fall proves, they’re not stable. The contractors have left six of the ‘Lego’ concrete blocks on the promenade and I understand, from local knowledge, the Council don’t plan to use them, here in Overstrand. Maybe they should have placed the blocks where the fall has occurred. Referring to the Facebook post, there have been a number of negative remarks about the work carried out and seeing the slump so soon after the works have been completed, I can understand why.
