From time to time, you hear the phrase ‘the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing’.  This certainly applied to the pavement issue, a potential trip hazard, which I mentioned in my last blog.  After the pavement had been speedily repaired, I received an email from Norfolk County Council (NCC), advising me as follows: ‘We have assessed this problem and it does not meet our criteria for repair at this time. We will continue to monitor the problem as part of our routine inspections.  Thank you for contacting NCC Highways, this defect does not meet intervention levels for action. No further works planned.’  Not a lot you can say is there!  Since then, I’ve received a further email from NCC concerning the second issue which, on a positive tone, states ‘We have inspected the problem. Any repairs or required action will be prioritised depending on the severity, location and extent of the work necessary. On average, this may take approximately 6 weeks. Thank you for contacting NCC Highways, this defect is now programmed for repair.’

Last weekend the committee of the Overstrand Gardening Club made the decision to postpone the visit to Natural Surroundings on Tuesday.  This was to incorporate tea and cake and to celebrate the club’s 30th Anniversary.  The temperature forecast for the 1st July was 30+°C which, although there are wooded areas within the grounds, they felt was too hot for members to enjoy a walk along the boardwalks and across the meadow.  I hope the committee are able to reschedule the visit soon, so that we can take advantage of seeing the centre in its summer colours.

That’s about all from me today, apart from saying this wonderful weather continues and although we did have rain on Wednesday, this did little towards filling our water butts.  Instead of a photo, today I’ll leave you with a poster covering the forthcoming ‘Stars in Their Eyes’ at the Overstrand Club where budding village talent can step into the spotlight.
