Friday 18th April 2025 - Instructions Not Just Any Friday and The Strand Club

Our printer stopped functioning; this was because the ink pad was full.  Rather than contact the manufacturer, which the printer said we should do, we followed instructions provided on a YouTube video.  It was not quite how the video demonstrated but we were progressing well until the tape became detached meaning the printer could no longer scan or copy – what is termed as a ‘write off’.  We weren’t put out by its demise; we’ve had this printer for a number of years.  We wasted no time and ordered a new one from Argos, to be collected from their store in Cromer.  As I mostly use the printer, once collected and unpacked I started the set up.  I managed the first steps but when it came to the final part and reaching 83%, a message came up indicating it couldn’t complete, due to a list of possible problems.  No idea what was going on, I turned both my laptop and printer off, restarted them and with that the printer worked.  So, despite that message, it had completed the installation in full.   Not a lot more I can say, apart from, I do think manufacturers should give people like me the opportunity to trial set-ups so any quirks can be sorted.   

It’s not just any Friday today, it’s Good Friday; a religious day for Christians and for all, the beginning of a Bank Holiday weekend.  Some use the extra days for a short break away, others for catching up with the garden or even a bit of DIY and decorating or just chilling out.  For us, we have never done anything in particular over Easter,  It’s no different now that we are work free and can go out anytime, avoiding crowds. 

Instead of a photo, today I have chosen to include a scan of The Strand Club’s meetings programme for the coming year.  The Club meet in The Barn in The White Horse in the village on the second Wednesday each month.  As you will see, they have a variety of activities ranging from speakers, to outings, to social events.  Further information about the club can be found on their page, here on my website, where there is a link to their reports.  The Club welcomes new members as well as guests at their meetings.
